Hi guys! First of all, thank you for taking the time to check out my blog. I'm creating this to take photography one step further. Instead of just showing you a final image on instagram, I want to show you the process of how I get that shot, how I edit, the gear I use, how I plan my trips, how I location scout, how I travel for cheap, a day in the life of a creator, and overall tips and tricks that will help you either pick up a camera, or inspire you to get out and see the world (hopefully both, why wouldn't you want to photograph it?). In addition, I will be rolling out vlogs to go with some of these posts. But first, let me use this post to fully introduce myself and how I stumbled onto this career path.
I grew up in Pleasanton, California, about 45 minutes east of San Francisco. I grew up as a very overweight kid, and honestly didn't think I was talented at many things other than eating. o get an in depth view of who I am from a health stand point). I switched my hobbies and passions a lot when growing up, but could never find anything that I excelled in and was truly driven to do. That changed my first year of college.
My dad passed away from cancer when I was 18, which excelled me forward into the fitness world at full speed. I made a dramatic physical and mental transformation, so fitness became my only passion for 4 years. I became a personal trainer and was studying psychology because I always had an interest in human thought patterns and behaviors. Working out was an outlet for my anger, frustrations, and stress, but I was still missing something. I lacked a creative outlet. One day, my older brother Jordan bought a camera to start making work out videos. I saw how cool it was and the photos it could take and was instantly obsessed, I wanted it even though I had no idea how to use it or what I would take photos of. The camera was $1000, so there was no way I was going to invest that heavily into something I'd probably never use. Instead, I started taking photos on my phone (a great way to start out with photography, highly recommend it before buying a camera). This is where my passion began to take off in full force.
I began following photography accounts on instagram that inspired me, as well as drowning myself in youtube tutorials on photography basics and editing (click here to see one I watched over and over again when getting started). My favorite part about this growing process was the immense amount of support and feedback I received from my friends and family. That gave me a drive and reassurance that I was heading in the right direction.
I graduated from San Jose State University in 2018 with a degree in Psychology and a Minor in Business, and immediately packed two bags and moved to NYC where I currently reside. I spent the first few months continuing personal training, but quit to pursue my dreams as a content creator.
Fast forward to today, and I've learned enough and travel enough to start sharing what I know. My goal is to help inspire you to discover your true passions, see more of the world, and give you tips on how to get it going. If that's the sorta thing you're into, subscribe to my blog and join me on this journey!
